Smoking kills--but it's a death we can escape.

So much death is brought into the world, be it through car accidents, shootings, war or what have you.
Yet there are still things in our lives that we can control. But over time, we too often allow one thing to control us--and in turn it brings an end to our very being.
This excruciating death that I speak of comes not from a gun, not from a knife, but from a stick. Yes, that's right--it's smoking.
I must ask smokers: Why would you willingly do such a thing to yourself when it has been proven that sooner or later it will kill you?
You can try to play it off as "Oh don't worry--I can quit whenever I want to," or something like that.
Sorry friends, but it's a little harder than that.
First off, smoking the cancer stick causes high blood pressure, lung cancer, emphysema, cancer of the mouth, throat, voice box, pancreas--pretty much it makes your body susceptible to many different forms of cancer.
But hey, that's no big deal, right? I mean come on, everyone gets that anyways.
And for the homeboys out there who think it's cool either way, here's another little tidbit of information you may not know: If you smoke you also run a higher rate of impotence.
If the cancer stats aren't obvious enough for you, that just might convince you that this is decidedly not a cool thing to do.
Tobacco is a drug--one that kills around 4.9 million people each year.
That's 4.9 million mothers, fathers, friends, you name it, gone.
There's enough death going on in this day and age that we don't need to be voluntarily doing it ourselves.
Keep it clean, people. With all the death in the world, this is one you can prevent.
Get that independence back--get it back.
