Smoking Ban Effective on Board Saudi Arabian Airlines
09/01/99
Smoking will no longer be allowed from September 1 on board the flights of the Saudi Arabian Airlines (Saudia) departing for and arriving from the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states.
The decision to ban smoking on board Saudia's GCC flights was the first step to join other airways that prohibit smoking on board.
The Saudia will next impose ban on smoking on board its medium range international flights later this year, the Kuwait News Agency reported Tuesday.
Smoking is also banned on board the Saudia's domestic flights.
Besides Saudi Arabia, the GCC, a regional political and economic alliance, also comprises Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
