Hypnosis' Anti-Smoking Benefits Doubtful
05/24/00
Smokers who hope hypnosis will help them kick their habit need to temper their expectations, according to researchers at Ohio State University.
They reviewed five dozen studies which they say showed that while hypnosis may have some effect as an anti-smoking treatment, giving hypnosis the stamp of well-established treatment for smoking cessation is premature. The report by Joseph Green, an associate professor at the Lima campus, appears in a recent issue of the "International Journal of Clinical and Experimental Hypnosis."
