Gregoire, Selecky to Open Statewide Youth Tobacco Summit in Yakima

Students from across the state will convene in Yakima Friday for Washington's first Youth Tobacco Summit.
Over the course of the weekend, teenagers will build the framework for Washington's campaign against youth tobacco use.
``For decades Big Tobacco has preyed on youth with its advertising and marketing,'' said Washington State Attorney General Christine Gregoire. ``This summit puts the power into the hands of young people to craft their own message and spread the truth about the harm caused by tobacco use.''
Washington's summit was inspired by similar events held in Florida over the past two years. Students at Florida's summit created the Truth Campaign, which is among that state's most widely recognized advertising campaigns.
