The Chairman of the Hong Kong Council on Smoking and Health (COSH), Dr Homer Tso today (August 10) was congratulated by the Director of Health, Dr PY Lam, for receiving an international award recognizing his dedicated and outstanding contribution to tobacco control.
The award, titled the Director-General's Award for Leadership in Global Tobacco Control, was presented by the World Health Organization in recognition of the efforts of individuals and organizations for their contributions in the fight against tobacco.
Dr Lam said, “Dr Tso is an outstanding leader and veteran advocate in the work of tobacco control in Hong Kong.
“Through his leadership, COSH has been a strong partner of the Government in keeping the smoking prevalence of Hong Kong below 15%.”
“In addition to showing appreciation to local effort in anti-smoking, the award also serves as encouragement to local supporters to carry on with their work in future,” he added.
