Smoking ages United players

TWO DUNDEE United players were shown yesterday what they would look like in 10 years if they took up smoking.
Young players Garry Kenneth and Greg Cameron were ‘aged’ at Dundee’s The Corner drop-in centre, by brand new software developed by St Andrew’s University.
It is designed to show people what the effects of smoking would have on their appearance at various stages of their lives.
Gordon Grewar, a health outreach worker at The Corner said, “The event was the latest in a series of events we have been holding this week for our stop smoking initiative entitled Kick Butt.
“Garry and Greg are young and don’t smoke, but the software showed what they would look like when they were 25 and 50 if they were smokers.
“It concentrates on the area around the eyes and the mouth, and the results were quite shocking.
“They took copies of the pictures away back to Tannadice with them, and I hope it gets the message across to young people that smoking is a bad idea.
“We’ve been running a variety of anti-smoking events this week...”
The event was organised by Vicki Carnegie, a commerce student at Dundee University, and Rebecca Hurst, a sports science student at Abertay University.
