Smoking linked to impotence
06/02/99
A new report by the British Medical Association (BMA) and the anti-tobacco group Action Against Smoking (ASH) shows that smoking can increase the chance of becoming impotent by 50 % and can also compound other risk factors for erectile dysfunction.
The report estimates 120,000 men in Britain are impotent as a direct result of their habit and says a recent MORI poll showed 88 percent of smokers do not know the sexual risks they are taking. Both groups are urging the British government and the European Union to add new warnings on cigarette packets saying smoking causes impotence and can damage sperm.
