Prowers County Nursing receives grant to begin anti-tobacco campaign

The grant funds will be used by counties to implement the "Communities of Excellence in Tobacco Control" program developed by the American Cancer Society. Training will be provided to representatives and counties will receive guidance on implementing the program, aimed at preventing and reducing tobacco use. Tobacco use is the leading cause of preventable death in Colorado and the United States.
Kris Stokke was hired last week by Prowers County Nursing Service as the Public Health Tobacco Prevention Specialist for the new program, and will oversee its operation.
