Beginning December 31st, more than five billion dollars will be distributed over the next 12 years to those involved in tobacco production. The money comes from Phase Two of the settlement and is intended to help growers and allotment holders in 14 states deal with the fallout from the 206 billion dollar settlement. The "Greensboro News and Record" says their checks could be mailed out at the end of the year.
