China: Online tobacco ads banned

Advertisements for tobacco and adult products are now banned on the Internet according to new regulations on online advertisements issued by the Municipal Industrial and Commercial Administration of Beijing. The new regulations took effect on May 1.
The regulations cover all the online advertisements in the forms of flag, button or word link of websites and e-mail, according to the administration.
Internet information service providers should upload the online advertisements and required documents to the online regulation centre at www.hd315.gov.cn, and the centre will transfer the advertisements to target websites, according to the regulations.
